Fair outcomes

Dispute resolution

If a product or booking is not what you agreed, SkillMart holds escrow and reviews the case in-app. Hire disputes include a SkillMart dispute officer on the case.

Two kinds of disputes

Product orders and hire bookings follow related but different paths. In both cases, payout remains paused until SkillMart confirms the outcome.

Hire / jobs

Parties on a booking

Employers and providers handle disputes in-app on the booking. You continue messaging on the case, and a SkillMart dispute officer joins to review the brief, conversation, and delivered work. Raising a dispute pauses the job and the escrow on that booking.

  • Raise from an active job when work, conduct, or delivery is in question.
  • Add evidence (images, PDF, or Word files) and additional notes as the case progresses.
  • Track open and resolved cases in employer disputes or provider disputes after login.

Shop / orders

Buyer and seller

The buyer opens a dispute, uploads evidence of the product received, SkillMart reviews, the seller responds, and SkillMart confirms the outcome. Payment remains in escrow until the case is closed.

  • Do not confirm delivery if the item is wrong, missing, or damaged.
  • Upload clear photos of what arrived, together with order details.
  • Buyers manage cases from Track orders and Returns & disputes; sellers respond from seller orders.
How it works

What happens after you raise a case

Submit evidence, keep funds in escrow, and wait for SkillMart to confirm the outcome.

1

Someone opens the dispute

On a job, either party may raise it. On a product order, the buyer opens the case and explains what went wrong.

2

Evidence is uploaded

Photos of the product, job files, PDFs, or additional notes. The other party may add their own information.

3

SkillMart reviews

We review the listing or job brief, messages, and what was delivered. Hire cases include a dispute officer on the thread.

4

Outcome confirmed

Escrow is released, refunded, or adjusted as confirmed. We aim to resolve complete cases within 3–5 business days when evidence is available.

After you sign in

Open a dispute from your dashboard using the role tied to the order or booking.

Employers

Open Disputes from the employer dashboard. Cases on active jobs show timelines, escrow still held, and an option to add information.

Providers

The provider disputes page mirrors the job case so you can respond, attach files, and see when a SkillMart officer is involved.

Buyers

Use Track orders and Returns & disputes. Upload evidence of the product you bought before confirming delivery.

Sellers

Monitor seller orders for disputed escrow. Respond with proof of dispatch or the item you sent so SkillMart can confirm.

Need help outside an open case? Contact SkillMart in Abuja. For an active order or booking, raise the dispute in your dashboard so escrow stays linked to the case.

Continue with escrow protection

Most orders and jobs complete without a dispute. When they do not, funds remain held until SkillMart confirms.
